On a recent half day trip the weather was pretty ideal for the most part. We had some decent sunshine, light and variable winds and good tides. After finding some nice bonefish but failing to get them hooked up, I decided the tide was right for looking for some permit. Just as I arrived to my destination, a small rain cloud moved over us and brought wind, light rain and tough visibility. I moved off the flat were I was hoping to find some tailing permit, and went over to a deeper area where mangrove snapper, jacks, and yellowtail are frequently found. On the very first cast, Dave from Virginia Beach, VA caught this beautiful 15 lb. mutton snapper on 10lb spin and a live shrimp. At first I was sure we lucked into a nice permit, but quickly realized we had a new guest invited back to dinner. And it was delicious :0)
